Former Liverpool captain John Barnes advises his former club not to buy French superstar Kylian Mbappe in the upcoming transfer market. Why is that?
Since he was still defending AS Monaco, Kylian Mbappe has indeed managed to attract the interest of a number of European giants through his slick performance. PSG was fortunate enough to be able to get the French player’s service in the summer of 2017 through a pocket of 180 million Euros.
In PSG, Mbappe continues to grow, winning the championship trophy. The player also contributed greatly to the success of France to become world champion in 2018. A series of astonishing facts and then make European clubs interested in the player again.
Well, Liverpool is believed to be one of the devotees of Mbappe. They plan to continue to conduct large recruits even though they already have a line of qualified attack lines. Because, in addition to quality, Mbappe is also still very young, could be part of the club’s long-term project.
However, John Barnes did not agree with Mbappe’s recruitment discourse. Although admiring its quality, but the young French star is not necessarily suitable for Liverpool.
“They will need another attacker one time if one of the three attackers leaves but must adjust to what Klopp is asking for. Kylian Mbappe is fantastic when carrying the ball, but will he do other things?” Barnes said to the Daily Mail.
Liverpool’s trio of attack lines consisting of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino do seem to complement each other. Last name and even rarely willing to score goals to help Salah and Mane break the opponent’s goal.
While Mbappe is still very young, where adolescence will present great ambitions, also of course arrogant. Therefore, Mbappe is considered unable to replace one of the trio of attacking lines of the Reds.
“I believe if you are a 21-year-old star, your attitude will not change,” concluded John Barnes.
Besides Mbappe, Liverpool are also believed to want a young German striker, Timo Werner. Coach Jurgen Klopp even hinted at his interest in the RB Leipzig player.
