In the midst of public opinion about his care team which was considered a favorite in the European Champions League this year, Juventus coach, Massimilliano Allegri judged that the Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona were the number one favorite of the season. However, the former AC Milan tactician also believes Juventus is in the top 4 position.
Juventus this season does look stronger than previous seasons, as they have landed a number of top ammunition in the summer transfer market like Leonardo Bonucci, Joao Cancelo, Emre Can, Mattia Perin to the most sensational, Cristiano Ronaldo. As a result, the Bianconneri recorded a number of good results at the start of this season, with an unbeaten run of 13 matches that have taken place and managed to pack 12 wins among them.
These statistics make Juventus championed by a number of parties as potential champions in the European Champions League, even many who believe they will reach the treble winner. But, Massimilliano Allegri actually regards Barcelona as number one favorite this season.
“This year the Champions League favorite is Barcelona, but we are among the top four. Tomorrow, we have to win and winning has never been as easy as we saw against Empoli. Our opponents have their targets and they will give everything against us. We cannot lose points,” said Allegri at a press conference.
Furthermore, Allegri stressed that Cagliari is a very strong opponent, so the Juventus players must be very wary of the match later, despite going on at home.
“Cagliari is a tough opponent, they are the team that has the most place in the league and is dangerous in the penalty box. We have to win and prepare for Wednesday’s match. Cagliari is a very fast team and [Leonardo] Pavelotti is very strong in set pieces. If you concede more than 30 goals then you will not win the title, so tomorrow we have to maintain a clean sheet.”
Juventus are currently leading the Italian Serie A standings with a 6-point lead over their closest rivals, Napoli and Inter Milan.
