Ahead of the Champions League duel between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, midfielder Ander Herrera revealed the fact that he had no intention of leaving Old Trafford.
As is known, Manchester United recruited Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao during the 2014 summer transfer market. Together with the Red Devils, he recorded 189 caps and won the award as Player of the Year.
It could be said, in the era of Jose Mourinho’s coaching, Herrera was one of the mainstays of Manchester United. He even had time to become a mainstay of Solskjaer, but somehow the club just let him go at the end of the 2018/19 season.
After leaving MU, the player then joined Paris Saint-Germain and agreed a five-year contract. Interestingly, on Wednesday (21/10), Herrera will face his former club, Manchester United in the first match of the Champions League.
Talking about the former club, Herrera can only say that he has absolutely no intention of leaving Old Trafford. He is happy at MU, but unfortunately the club management has not come up with a new contract offer.
“My intention was not to leave the club and I was happy there – as happy as I am now here. It’s no secret. I am negotiating for a new contract for more than a year and I expect more from the higher ups after my third season, when I was chosen to be the player of the year. ”
“They did not come to me that summer, they did not even call me. And it was very painful for me because I felt I had given everything,” said Herrera told The Telegraph.
Despite feeling disappointed, the player insisted that he had absolutely no personal problems with club officials. He felt the love of the fans, but not Manchester United.
“I wanted to make sure there weren’t any personal problems at all. That’s life,”
“However, it is true that after my third season when I was the best player, when I got respect and love from the fans, I didn’t feel that love from the club,” he concluded.
