After being silent about the exchange rumor, Arthur Melo finally joined Juventus. The transfer has been officially announced, so what does the Brazilian midfielder say?
Previously, rumors of an exchange between Barcelona and Juventus had been heard since a few months ago. The two clubs plan to switch Arthur Melo with Miralem Pjanic.
The development of this transfer discourse had stalled, despite an agreement between the two clubs and Miralem Pjanic. It was Arthur Melo who rejected this exchange idea.
But, as time went by, his mind suddenly changed, the Brazilian midfielder was willing to move to Turin.
An agreement was reached since last June, but the two new players could be introduced after the 2019/20 season campaign was completed. Arthur himself was only introduced since last Wednesday (2/09) local time.
In introducing himself as a new Bianconneri player, the 24-year-old midfielder admitted that he was very happy with his move to Juventus.
“This is a very important day for me, I thank the family, the coach, Fabio and everyone, who welcomed me,”
“I have the privilege of playing with great players, playing with Ronaldo is like a dream come true. This project makes me very confident and ambitious,” said Arthur as quoted by Football Italia.
Seeing his fairly good performance with Barcelona, many Juventus fans are optimistic that Arthur’s arrival can add depth to the midfield for their favorite team.
However, Arthur himself admitted that he still had not spoken in detail with the club’s new manager, Andrea Pirlo.
“I haven’t spoken in detail with the coach. He doesn’t play like everyone else, he moves and plays in a unique way.”
“I feel the privilege of playing for a coach like him. We have not talked about the formation and position on the pitch until now,” he concluded.
As is known, Andrea Pirlo has indeed been officially appointed as the new coach of Juventus a few weeks ago. He was appointed as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri, who was sacked after the club’s failure in the European Champions League.
After Arthur, Juventus is believed to be hooking another Barcelona midfielder, Arturo Vidal.
