After the victory over Ferencvaros, Barcelona brought bad news about the condition of one of their players, Sergi Roberto. The Spanish defender was confirmed positive for the Corona Virus.
Lately, or as of yesterday’s International break, there have indeed been many Covid-19 cases among football players. Naturally, players also visit other countries to play international matches with their respective national teams.
Likewise with Sergi Roberto, where the Barcelona Full Back also defended the Spanish national team during the international break yesterday.
At Barcelona, Sergi Roberto can be called one of the mainstay players of Ronald Koeman’s new manager. He has been relied on by the Dutch coach since sitting in the managerial chair last summer.
Unfortunately, in the match against Atletico Madrid yesterday, Sergi Roberto found an injury that made him miss at least until next January.
But surprisingly, in the midst of the recovery period that had to be passed, the player actually contracted the Corona virus. This bad news has been confirmed directly by Barcelona after the PCR test was held last Tuesday (01/12).
“After the PCR test carried out on Tuesday, first team player Sergi Roberto tested positive for COVID-19,” reads an official Barcelona statement.
However, Barcelona can ensure that Sergi Roberto does not experience any symptoms, aka a person without symptoms, whose condition is currently fine.
“The player is in good health and he is now isolating himself at home.” Continue the statement.
Even so, Sergi Roberto still has to go through self-quarantine for the next 10 days. Apart from this, he is still concerned about two months of absence due to the injury he received in the match against Atletico Madrid yesterday.
“As a reminder, Roberto suffered a tear in the rectus femoris in his right thigh during the Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona match. This injury kept him out for about two months.” he said.
Meanwhile, Barcelona itself has just won 3-0 victory over Ferencvaros in the European Champions League. This victory makes Los Blaugrana firmly at the top of the standings.
