After a series of disappointing results in the last few games, Chelsea finally made it back to the right track. Most recently, they successfully beat Luton Town with a massive score, 3-1.
The match, titled the fourth round of the FA Cup, took place on Sunday night WIB yesterday (24/01). In the match that unfolded at Stamford Bridge, Tammy Abraham became the main star with his hat trick.
Meanwhile, the visitors to Luton Town, who came from the second division, were only able to reply through one goal from Jordan Clark. The 3-1 score was enough to bring Chelsea to the next round.
However, despite the success of qualifying for the next round, this victory was very important for the Blues.
Naturally, they had slumped since mid-December 2020, swallowing several defeats including against Arsenal and Manchester City.
The revival of Frank Lampard’s team has only started since the victory atsa Morecambe earlier this month. Indeed, they had lost to Leicester City, but the victory over Luton Town could revive the players’ confidence.
With the victory over Luton Town, Chelsea have now collected three wins in the last four matches in all competitions. Indeed, there is still no guarantee for consistency in the next match, but Frank Lampard considers the victory very important.
“It’s three wins in four games, I’m happy to say that because in this modern era people easily see reversible short-term statistics.”
“This win is good for us in the short term. You are talking about two games in the League Cup, and one in the league which we won and the other ended in defeat.” stressed Lampard at Chelseafc.com.
Even so, the former Chelsea player asked his team not to stick to existing data, because the most important thing is to develop in terms of performance.
“The good thing for us is not to forget to think about the number of recent wins or the position in the table,” continued Lampard.
“Our focus should only be on changes in performance and I think today every player has shown an improvement in performance and collectively our performance has improved. So I am very happy for that,” he said.
