Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi has officially returned to the arms of his former club Crystal Palace after Chelsea agreed to release the 26-year-old on loan.
Please note, this is not Batshuayi’s first time strengthening Crystal Palace. He once defended The Eagles in the second half of the 2018/19 season, at which time he successfully scored 11 goals in the Premier League.
His career with Chelsea has often been spent playing on loan at several clubs, including Borussia Dortmund.
Last season, Chelsea gave him the opportunity to play in the first team, even making 24 appearances in all competitions. But Batshuayi is still difficult to win the competition with Giroud and Tammy Abraham.
Now with a return to Crystal Palace’s arms, Batshuayi can expect a lot of him to become a regular at the London club next season.
The player is very enthusiastic because he considers Selhust Park as his own home.
“I feel at home now. But I have to show a good season here, working with my teammates and I want to give my best here,”
“This is not the first time I have been here. I know my teammates, I know the boss, I know how the club here works. For me, this is the best decision,” said Batshuayi as quoted by Goal International.
Actually this is the best decision for the player, because if he stays at Chelsea, the situation will be worse than last season.
The Blues have signed a number of new players this summer, including Timo Werner. Fortunately, Roy Hodgson as Crystal Palace coach was willing to accept Batshuayi again.
“I am very happy we were able to get Michy on loan for a full season. He had a good impact on the club in his previous loan spell, although it only lasted for five months,”
“He showed us the goal-scoring threat we needed so much at that moment, and we believe he can do it again.” said Hodgson.
That way, Michy Batshuayi becomes The Eagles’ third signing this summer after Eberechi Eze and Nathan Ferguson.
