The release of Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid for 35 million Euros and bringing Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao to pocket 75 million Euros was considered a clever move by Chelsea by one of West Ham United’s former goalkeepers, Shaka Hislop. The reason is, in his vision, Kepa has a very good potential to become the world’s best goalkeeper in the future.
As is well known, Chelsea have officially separated from Belgium’s National Team goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois in the summer transfer window this year, as the 26-year-old player himself requested to be sold to Real Madrid. The Blues only get 35 million Euros from the sale of the former Atletico, then bring Kepa Arrizabalaga, the young Spanish goalkeeper from Athletic Bilbao through a very high pocket, 75 million Euros.
Many argue that Kepa will not immediately perform brilliantly with Chelsea, given the process of adaptation to English football that cannot be ignored. But, Shaka Hislop, who is a former West Ham United goalkeeper, believes that this transfer is a smart transfer by the Blues, because in his view, he is one of the best goalkeepers in the future.
“I don’t think there are many goalkeepers who have the best abilities. As far as I can see, there are only 4 goalkeepers who have better abilities than him in the Premier League. I think Chelsea have made an incredible purchase. You have to pay attention to its development, because I think he can be a better goalkeeper in the future,” said the former West Ham United player to reporters.
Kepa appeared nicely at the beginning of his career at Chelsea. So far, he has made 2 clean sheets from four EPL opening matches this season.
