Conceded 5 goals in 2 matches, De Gea still called as the best goalkeeper

Massimo Taibi voiced his support for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea. Despite conceding five goals in the first two Premier League matches this season, the former Atletico Madrid is still considered one of the best.

Despite being the only Manchester United player to shine amid the club’s downturn, in recent years the situation has changed for De Gea.

The player who was rumored to be very close to Real Madrid is in the spotlight because of his drastic decline in performance.

Last season, for example, De Gea often made fatal blunders which ultimately led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops with disappointing results.

While this season, De Gea’s performance has not improved. The net has broken five times in just two Premier Leaguae games this season.

First match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford which ended with a score of 1-3, victory for the visitors. In the second match against Brighton And Hove Albion, Manchester United did win, but De Gea’s goal missed two goals.

Of course, conceding five goals in two games does not bode well for De Gea. Many began to doubt the quality of the 29-year-old player.

But Massimo Taibi still considers De Gea still worthy of the status of Europe’s best goalkeeper today.

“De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe,” Taibi told American Gambler.

Taibi cannot deny the fact that De Gea often makes blunders. But he believes that sooner or later the player will rise up and return to being the touted goalkeeper.

In essence, De Gea just needs to work hard to get back to his best. Moreover, the club has sent home their young goalkeeper, Dean Henderson.

“In England, he has been playing amazingly. Yes, sometimes things don’t go his way, but he is so good that he can quickly find his best form again.”

“He just needs to work hard and players like him will come back stronger. For me, he’s not a goalkeeper you can judge. He’s one of the best.” he said.
