The discourse to transfer the Belgian National Team goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid in this summer transfer window is threatened to be canceled. The reason is the negotiations between the two parties ended deadlocked.
Since the end of the 2017/18 campaign last season, the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper has indeed been rumored to be leaving Stamford Bridge. One of the main reasons behind his desire was disappointment because Chelsea failed to play in the European Champions League again after finishing fifth in the Premier League final standings last season.
Meanwhile Real Madrid has been trusted to want new goalkeeper since two seasons ago. So far they have been linked with Spain’s National Team goalkeeper David De Gea, but later it was discovered that the 27-year-old was not interested in leaving Manchester United. For this reason Real Madrid are believed to divert their targets to Thibaut Courtois.
After the end of the Belgian national team’s journey at the 2018 World Cup yesterday, Courtois himself admitted that he would most likely leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window this year to return to playing in the European Champions League next season. This means that chances are very open for Real Madrid to get the services of former Atletico Madrid player.
However, reportedly this transfer is threatened to be canceled, as reported by Sky Sports News, negotiations between parties involved a dead end. The biggest obstacle to the transfer was the Blues’ difficulties in getting the goalkeeper to win the World Cup’s Golden Glove.
Chelsea’s target for goalkeeper business is Jordan Pickford, but the England national team player will immediately hold a negotiation on a contract extension with Everton after finishing his vacation. If the situation had not changed, Chelsea had no choice but to defend Courtois at Stamford Bridge even though the goalkeeper was believed to be easy to reach a personal agreement with the Madrid camp.
Actually, Chelsea has received Rob Green’s service this summer, but the former England national goalkeeper was only prepared as a reserve goalkeeper.
