Barcelona managed to continue their positive trend in the start of the La Liga 2018/19 season with a narrow 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Estadio Municipal de Anoeta. Although, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele were the goalscorers in the match, Philippe Coutinho was regarded as the key successor for Barcelona to secure three points in yesterday’s match.
As is known, Barcelona travel to Real Sociedad’s headquarters in the fourth match of the Spanish La Liga Jornada last weekend, Saturday (15/09) local time. Before the match took place, Barcelona was predicted to have difficulties dealing with the hosts as previous meetings at Anoeta.
Sure enough, Barcelona missed first through goals scored by Aritz Elustondo, when the game just entered the 12th minute. The score 1-0 home advantage continues to last until the first half ends. In the second half, Ernesto Valverde (coach) included Brazilian midfielder, Philippe Coutinho. Since then the Barcelona attack has been more varied.
In the end, they managed to score two replies in just three minutes, each through Luis Suarez in the 63rd minute then Ousmane Dembele in the 66th minute. Indeed, Coutinho was not directly involved in the Barcelona comeback process, but, according to Luis Suarez the former Liverpool player was the key successor of Barca’s victory.
“In the second half, Coutinho did his job very well when he entered and he decided in the match. He changed it. We returned with great enthusiasm. We are all here to help the team and return from the international break with a very good victory,” said the Uruguayan striker.
Thanks to this victory, Barcelona practically remain top of the Spanish La Liga standings with perfect points, 12 points from their first four games, 2 points ahead of Real Madrid who are held to a draw by Athletic Bilbao.
