Cristiano Ronaldo congratulated Modric for winning UEFA’s Player of the Year award

Real Madrid’s mainstay midfielder, Luka Modric, tries to quell the issue of Ronaldo’s anger over the European best player of the year. The Croatian National Team’s player confirmed that Ronaldo also sent him a short message that congratulated the annual award.

As is known, Cristiano Ronaldo was initially predicted to win the European Player of the Year award for the 4th time in his career, after successfully delivering Real Madrid to win the European Champions League trophy for the 3rd time in a row last season. But instead, the midfielder, Luka Modric was chosen, beating Salah Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Most people judged that the 32-year-old player deserves an award as Europe’s best player, because he not only helped Real Madrid win the European Champions League trophy last season, but also took the Croatian National Team to the 2018 World Cup final.

Related to the results of this voting, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed to feel angry, and because of that he was not present at the ceremonial evening held by UEFA. In fact, Ronaldo actually congratulated Modric on the award of the best European player.

“Cristiano Ronaldo sent me a short message, gave me congratulations and told me that he was happy for me and I deserve it. He also admitted that he couldn’t wait to see me again,” said Modric to RTP3.

Furthermore, Modric spoke about his name being re-included in the list of winning candidates for this year’s FIFA world’s best player award.

“I am happy to be in the other big award final, we will see what happens. I have a good relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo and we also have good relationships in the future. Individual awards are important but I am not obsessed with that.”
