Liverpool’s victory over West Ham United did not seem as easy as usual. They even had left in the match before reaching three points. Coach Jurgen Klopp also admitted the Hammers made his team quite overwhelmed.
Liverpool just played their 27th week of the Premier League on Tuesday morning (25/02). Located at Anfield, clearly the Reds are more favored than West Ham United win. Sure enough, they won with a final score of 3-2.
However, Liverpool appear to have difficulty facing the Hammers. Had superior first through Wijnaldum’s goal in the 9th minute, the Reds instead turned behind the visitors by goals scored by Issa Diop and Pablo Fornals.
Luckily the Marseyside team had two powerful strikers in Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Both of them scored one goal to bring the hosts back ahead 3-2. The second name had added to Liverpool’s superiority, unfortunately his goal was disallowed because of being caught in an offside trap.
Liverpool seem to have difficulty facing the London Club, even though the position of the two teams in the standings looks very contrasting. If the Reds are at the top of the standings, West Ham actually still limped out of the Dergradation Zone.
Speaking after the match, manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that the Hammers had managed to overwhelm Liverpool.
“We lost a little patience in the first half in what we did, in attack you can see this a little. They scored the second goal and I had to see again how that happened.
Afterwards we were forced to calm down and do the right thing, and I think all the goals we scored were a bit strange – the best goals we scored didn’t count!” Klopp said as quoted by Goal International.
Apart from that, the victory over West Ham made Liverpool increasingly firmly on top with 79 points. They are 22 points ahead of nearest rivals, Manchester City. Now only need four more wins to lock in the Premier League title this season.
In the next match this weekend, Liverpool will face Watford. Of course, the match will be more difficult later.
