Franco Morbidelli agrees on a 2-year contract at Petronas SRT

Once believed to be announcing an agreement reached with Valentino Rossi, the Yamaha SRT Petronas Team actually announced a new cooperation contract with their rider, Franco Morbidelli. In its official release, SRT ensures the Italian Rider will last until 2022.

In fact, lately the Yamaha Satellite Team was reportedly intense enough to soon reach an agreement with Valentino Rossi. The reason is, The Doctor is no longer a part of the Manufacturing Team starting next season.

After a long enough puzzle, it is believed that both parties will soon reach an agreement with the official announcement that it will only be broadcast on the first MotoGP Series this season at Jerez.

But apparently not, instead the SRT Team announced a new contract agreement they had reached with an older rider, Franco Morbidelli.

Indeed, a new contract for Morbidelli had been estimated beforehand. In fact, throughout 2019 the 25-year-old rider often achieved results under the shadow of the tandem, Fabio Quartararo who in fact was four years younger than him.

Prior to this, Razlan Razali as the SRT Team Principal had also stated his team’s plan to extend the Morbidelli contract. Now, Razali and SRT are keeping their promises by giving a new contract to Italian racers.

Morbidelli, who is one of the results of the VR46 Academy training, said he was happy with this new contract.

“I am very happy to be able to continue working with Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team, bearing in mind that we had a great season together last year, working with great enthusiasm in achieving success.”

“I think it’s important to stay with the same team, motorcycle and environment, because it’s fun working with them. We all worked well together and it was great working with all the Petronas SRT crew. ” Thus said Morbidelli through the official website of Petronas SRT.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old rider admitted that he was impatient to carry out the first MotoGP series this season which was planned to be held on the 17th to 19th July at the Jerez Circuit, Spain.

“Now I can’t wait to get back in the race to show our potential, and I’m very happy to have the opportunity to keep doing what I love with the team I care about.” He concluded.
