Gabriel Martinelli suffers a new injury after recovering from long injury

Arsenal feel double suffering, after the big defeat to Manchester City, they not only knocked out of the League Cup but also lost Gabriel Martinelli. Yes, the Brazilian player was injured again, even though he had just recovered from a long injury.

As is known, Arsenal did face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the League Cup or Carabao Cup at dawn WIB (23/12).

Playing at the Emirates Stadium, of course, Mikel Arteta’s troops should have been more desirable to win, but in reality they were defeated by a landslide score of 1-4.

The first half was actually a draw, with City opening the scoreboard first through Gabriel Jesus’ goal. Arsenal had time to reply with a Lacazette goal before half-time.

But new disaster approached the hosts in the second half, they conceded three goals, each through Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte.

This defeat was clearly painful for Arsenal, apart from being at home, as a result of this defeat they were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup event.

Not only that, the suffering was even more pronounced because Gabriel Martinelli had to go up to the treatment room again after finding an injury in the middle of the match.

The Brazilian appears to be seriously injured, even though he has just made a comeback after being sidelined with a serious injury for the past few months.

After the match, coach Mikel Arteta then explained how Gabriel Martinelli’s current condition was.

“It was a very bad kick in his shin and it swelled up. He couldn’t continue. He was determined to play. He said he was fine and wanted to continue.”

“He had a scar that didn’t open and he wanted to try, so we gave him a chance to try. When he was on the pitch he felt uncomfortable so it was an easy decision to take him.” said Mikel Arteta on the club’s official website.

Of course the tactician deeply regrets Martinelli’s injury, but he realizes that the 19-year-old defender has a great desire to appear.

“He has a unique energy and a way to transmit his passion to the match,” added Arteta.
