Juventus gave up on Luis Suarez’s chase

The defending champions of the Italian Serie A, Juventus, through their sporting director, Fabio Paratici, ensure that Luis Suarez will no longer be their transfer target this summer.

Suarez was believed to be leaving Barcelona this summer. The reason is because the new Barca coach, Ronald Koeman, does not want the player’s services next season.

The future of the former Liverpool was then discussed with Juventus who were touted as the main candidate. In fact, a number of reports say that the Bianconeri have reached an agreement with the striker.

There are several things that Juventus have to offer and make Suarez interested, including the salary figure of 10 million Euros per season.

But getting here, the transfer issue is getting faded. Moreover, after coach Andrea Pirlo said that Suarez’s move to Turin was hampered by complicated bureaucratic problems.

It was only then that Juventus were confirmed to have raised a white flag regarding this potential transfer following a statement from the club’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici.

“Suarez could be dropped from the list, because the time needed to get his passport is longer than the deadline for the transfer or when we can provide a list for the Champions League,”

“We evaluated Suarez’s options when proposed to us. He was in the process of obtaining Italian citizenship, so we are evaluating the possibility of registering him on time,” he told Sky Sports.

Apart from Suarez, Juventus has also been linked with former Manchester City Edin Dzeko.

Regarding this, Paratici admits that currently the Bianconneri do need a new center-forward following Gonzalo Higuain’s departure.

However, he also emphasized that Juventus will not be in a rush, because the new transfer market will close on 5 October.

“You could say this is not a situation about Dzeko, it is a striker situation, because Juventus need an attacker. Now we only think of one striker, not two,”

“We know what we want and are working on it calmly, there are still 15 transfer market days and we are not in a rush. There are still other options, not just Dzeko,” he concluded.

Besides Dzeko, there is also Edinson Cavani, who is currently on a free transfer.
