The world’s best young player version of France Football, Kylian Mbappe, recently revealed the fact that maybe not many people know, that he had refused an offer from Premier League giants, Arsenal. At that time, Mbappe revealed that Arsenal were still handled by Arsene Wenger, and he respectfully refused the offer of the legendary French coach. So, how did Wenger react when Mbappe’s offer was rejected?
Mbappe, 19, seems to be a much-coveted player for the European giants, when he was involved in shining with AS Monaco in the 2016/17 season, leading the club to win the French Ligue 1 and move to the European Champions League semifinals. At that time, the Premier League giants, Arsenal was indeed touted as a heavy demand for Mbappe.
In the end, Mbappe chose to join Paris Saint-Germain, after a loan agreement with a duration of one season was permanently redeemed last summer for 180 million Euros.
After a year passed, Mbappe finally confirmed that there was indeed an offer from Arsenal, even the Gunners coach at the time, Arsene Wenger who approached him to join. Unfortunately, Mbappe revealed that he directly refused offers from Wenger, interestingly, the player said that Wenger was very respectful of his decision to reject the offer.
“Wenger is a monument to real French football that has left Arsenal. I have not seen many people in this world who are seen in the full way it seems,”
“When all of Europe knelt before him to celebrate for him, it must mean something. Before I decided to join PSG, we made contact in 2017. I chose a different direction, but he was not bothered by that decision. Wenger is a respectable man, especially questioning things like that, and I wish him all the best,” said Mbappe, as quoted by France Football.
Wenger himself then decided to resign from his position as coach of Arsenal, a year after the Mbappe rejection. At the present, he is still unemployed, although he was linked to Paris Saint-Germain who fired Unai Emery last summer.
