Leonardo urges PSG to extend Mbappe and Neymar contracts

The glorious performance of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. seems to attract the interest of a number of European giants, but PSG sporting director Leonardo feels confident that both players will survive.

Over the past three years, Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe have indeed become two of Paris Saint-Germain’s mainstay stars. Both of these players were brought in at the 2017 summer transfer window, Neymar from Barcelona and Mbappe from AS Monaco.

But of course the risk behind such slick performance has aroused interest from some European giants. Neymar himself was later linked with his former club, Barcelona while Mbappe reportedly became the target of another La Liga giant, Real Madrid.

A number of European media began to discuss speculation about the future of the two players. Moreover, the fact is that Neymar and Mbappe contracts will expire in 2022, whereas until now there has been no new contract agreement.

In this regard, Leonardo insisted that the two stars will not leave Paris Saint-Germain next summer, and new contract plans are being prepared.

“Nobody told us they would go this summer. They both still have two years of contract and we are thinking about what we can do next with them,” he told Le Journal du Dimanche.

Paris Saint-Germain certainly does not want to lose both players, especially Kylian Mbappe who in fact is still young and can still be a mainstay of the club in the long run.

“Mbappe is the future of PSG. This is what everyone wants. The ideal scenario is to extend the contract, “Leonardo said.

Furthermore, Leonardo then urged the club to immediately realize a new contract to the two players.

“They are two of the five best players in the world besides Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. No need to rethink. We have to take advantage of having them. We must find a solution to continue working together.” He said.

But of course the question is whether Mbappe and Neymar are willing to agree on a new contract or not. Moreover, Mbappe had made a sign that he was interested in joining Real Madrid.
