Manchester United tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke about the absence of his flagship goalkeeper, David De Gea in the duel against Crystal Palace this morning. The manager can ensure that De Gea is not out injured.
As is known, Manchester United faced Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the morning WIB (04/03). However, strangely in the duel, the goalkeeper position was played by Dean Henderson from the first minute.
That position is usually played by David De Gea, but the Spanish goalkeeper doesn’t even appear on the bench for Manchester United.
Indeed, Dean Henderson himself performed quite well in the match, where he managed to keep the net clean until the end, unfortunately the match itself ended with a score on points.
However, what became the public spotlight was the absence of David De Gea in the duel. Some say that the Spanish goalkeeper is injured so that he is not on the Red Devils squad list, but this claim has been denied by Solskjaer.
The Norwegian coach explained that De Gea was absent due to personal problems which of course he could not describe in detail. But Solskjaer also doesn’t know when his goalkeeper will return to play.
“It’s for personal reasons. It’s a personal matter. It will take time.” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.
If you hear the answer from the tactician, it is likely that De Gea will also not play in the super big match against Manchester City this weekend.
But apart from De Gea’s absence, Solskjaer admitted that he was quite happy with Dean Henderson’s performance, who did not concede in the match against Crystal Palace yesterday. Although in the end the club failed to win, but at least the goalkeeper’s action resulted in one point.
“That’s the Manchester United goalkeeper, sometimes you have to stay concentrated. He’s grown in that position. I thank him for one point and not zero.” said Solskjaer.
Actually, the draw against Crystal Palace yesterday was not good enough for MU, because that way the top of the standings was getting further out of their reach.
