Pioli admits AC Milan ‘missing’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic

AC Milan tactician Stefano Pioli cannot deny the fact that his squad is starting to miss Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Without the Swedish bomber, according to him the Rossoneri played in a very different way.

As is known, Ibrahimovic has indeed been relied on by AC Milan since last season. At the start of this season, his performance was very reliable.

But unfortunately, the former Manchester United player suffered an injury after helping Milan win against Napoli at the end of November. The injury paid for the 3-1 win over a rival club, in which Ibra scored two goals in between.

As a result, Ibra was absent from the match against Parma on Monday morning WIB (14/12). In the match that was held at the San Siro, Milan seemed to lose their way without Ibrahimovic and was only able to pick one point from the 2-2 draw.

But when it comes to performance, Stefano Pioli’s troops are still fairly good, it’s just that Ibra’s absence really affects their game.

Just imagine, Milan recorded no less than 26 kicks on goal, but only two of them resulted in goals.

No wonder, after the match, coach Stefano Pioli could assume that his team really missed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“It’s true, we have a different character without Ibrahimovic. Because, he gave us a lot of presence in the penalty box. However, we attack with more numbers and focus on movement,” Pioli told Sky Sports.

In total, from 11 matches, Ibrahimovic did appear to be very dominating with 10 goals in Serie A. His absence forced Pioli to play Ante Rebic as the main striker.

However, it seems that Rebic cannot completely replace Ibra’s role.

“We wanted to win and we had a chance to win. Parma took two shots on goal, but we also had mistakes on those two goals,”

“We weren’t sharp enough in the second half, but it can happen when you put so much passion into chasing, put players into the box and try to get them back on track,” concluded Pioli.
