AC Milan were surprisingly defeated with a 0-3 score against Lille in the 3rd matchdays of the Europa League group phase earlier today. Some think that this is the fruit of the arrogant attitude shown by the Rossoneri.
The match itself took place on Friday morning WIB (06/11) at the San Siro Stadium.
Playing at home, of course AC Milan is more favored to win, especially since Stefano Pioli’s men also appeared fierce as a whole at the start of this season.
However, the results were surprising, Milan were defeated by a landslide score of 0-3. It was Yusuf Yazici who was the main star of Lille’s victory in the match with his hat trick against Donnarumma.
This defeat caused a stir among netizens, some say that this was the fruit of the arrogant attitude of AC Milan’s players who tended to underestimate Lille’s strength.
But this opinion was denied by coach Stefano Pioli, he emphasized that his players never underestimate any opponent they face.
According to him, this is just a bad day for the team and they will learn a lot from this defeat.
“I am the coach of this team, I am going through a building process going into this match and you can be sure that we don’t underestimate anyone,”
“We haven’t lost our attitude either. It’s just a bad day and we will learn from it. This is a young squad, but also has a mature attitude that knows how to react to any difficulties,” Pioli told Sky Sport Italia.
Coach Stefano Pioli has indeed contributed to lifting AC Milan’s performance, especially since the second half of last season. In fact, the defeat to Lille was the first they felt since last March.
The former Lazio and Inter Milan tactician was rumored to be expelled from the manager’s chair. But in the end he was retained and is now enjoying his job with the Rossoneri immensely.
“I am very happy to be here, there is a unifying atmosphere, a supportive club and we have everything to do the best possible job,”
“When a coach can get a situation like that, he can focus and give the best for the team,” he concluded.
