The 2020 MotoGP season runner Up, Franco Morbidelli, revealed who he idolized in other sports, precisely in the Formula 1 Jet Car Race, and it turned out that this figure was the legendary Rider, Ayrton Senna.
In fact, Morbidelli himself is one of the Underdog riders from what he saw at the start of the 2020 season yesterday. However, slowly his performance improved and he won three wins plus two other podiums.
Thanks to a series of good results, Morbidelli then managed to maintain his position in second place in the standings until the competition ended.
Throughout his journey for the 2020 season, Morbidelli recognized that the race at the Teruel GP was the best. The Italian rider considers it a spiritual experience like that of the late Ayrton Senna, the legendary former Formula 1 rider.
Well, Morbidelli reveals that Ayrton Senna is one of his biggest idols in Racing today.
“I really like Ayrton Senna. He is one of my biggest idols and is Brazilian. I myself have a close bond with that country,” said the 26-year-old rider.
No wonder Morbidelli idolized the figure of Ayrton Senna, because his mother did too. In fact, when she gave birth, the mother had the Formula 1 rider poster in her room.
“I always like to tell the story of how my mother put the Ayrton poster in my bedroom when I was born. I took it with me when I moved house. I still have that poster, so every time I go to sleep and wake up, I see Ayrton,” he continued .
Unfortunately, Morbidelli could not see the idol in action on the track, considering that Ayrton Senna died in a racing accident on May 1, 1994.
However, Morbidelli admitted that he still often watched documentary recordings about his idol.
“I was not lucky enough to see Ayrton race. However, I watched so many documentaries about him and watched many interviews.”
“I really like his approach to racing and like his character, and I made it all the ‘light’ that guides me,” he said.
