Naby Keita has recently come under the spotlight because it rarely begins to get a chance to appear in the Liverpool first team. But this did not necessarily make Jurgen Klopp feel that the Ghanaian player was indeed no longer needed by his club. Instead, the German manager actually believes Naby Keita could be the club’s future star.
For information, this 2019/20 season is the second season for Naby Keita at Liverpool. He was recruited from RB Leipzig in 2018 and he was predicted to be the new Steven Gerrard in the squad for the Marseyside Team, seeing how he played when he was still defending the German Bundesliga club.
Unfortunately, for the past year Naby Keita’s performance is still considered far from expectations. He is still struggling to adapt to Liverpool’s squad and also the intensity of the Premier League. Even so, Klopp still believes that the 24-year-old figure will be an important figure in his squad in the future.
“Naby is a player who can score goals for us,” Klopp told Sportsmole.
This was stated by Klopp not without reason, but because he witnessed the player’s performance in the match against Monterrey in the Club World Cup semi-final round, where he scored the opening goal in the match.
“He does not play too much in this team, but he has scored a number of goals for us. Not to mention the goals he created were important goals. The goal he created earlier [vs Monterrey] was extraordinary. I am sure he can make more goals like that in the future. “He said.
Furthermore, the German manager admits that right now Keita is still far from satisfying, but he believes with the right guidance, the midfielder will be very reliable by any team.
“If you know Naby better, you know that what she is doing is something good, but you also know that she can do better. So this is very good news for us,” said the manager.
Keita is likely to be a mainstay again in the Club World Cup final match against Flamengo this weekend.
