One of Sir Alex Ferguson’s former assistants, Rene Meulensteen, believes that Manchester United can win the Premier League next season, provided they recruit a player. Who is the player?
Manchester United is the team with the most Premier League titles in history. However, since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 until now, the Red Devils have never won the Premier League title again.
In Lan’s words, for the last 7 years Manchester United has been experiencing a title drought. But last season at least there were positive changes shown by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, they managed to finish in 3rd position in the final Premier League standings.
But it should also be noted that in that position, Manchester United are 33 points adrift of the champions, Liverpool. Rene Meulensteen then said there was a big gap between the two teams.
“It’s clear that there was a big gap in the last season,” Meulensteen told talkSPORT.
Next season is certainly an opportunity for Manchester United to cut the existing gap. According to Sir Alex Ferguson’s former right-hand man, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops only need to start the campaign with a slick performance.
“What is very vital for United next season is that they have to get a good start, so they have a strong foundation to compete. And a good start will give them confidence.” He said.
In addition, they are deemed necessary to recruit another player if they want to become Premier League champions. The player is England National Team striker, Harry Kane.
“I think they need to buy another good player. I keep saying they need to sign a very top striker.”
“As an illustration, they can try to sign Kane, although I’m sure they can’t buy him this summer. But if they have a striker like Kane, they will be serious title contenders next season.” he said.
Harry Kane himself has opened the door to move clubs in the transfer market this summer. Tottenham are also ready to release it with a tag of 200 million Euro.
