One Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, regretted Donny Van de Beek’s decision to join Manchester United. According to him, the Dutch international midfielder would be more suitable if he joined Arsenal.
As is known, Manchester United had difficulty recruiting their targets this summer.
In fact, until now the club has only succeeded in recruiting young Dutch midfielder, Donny Van De Beek. The 23-year-old player was bought from Ajax Amsterdam through a pocket of no less than 35 million pounds.
Haya alone, the arrival of Van de Beek which was greeted with great fanfare and the Red Devils legend presented a new problem.
Ian Wright felt that Van de Beek chose the wrong goal because Manchester United already had many top midfielders like Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United carries a three midfielders formation. However, Ian Wright doesn’t believe Van de Beek can strike a balance there.
“Donny van de Beek, he is someone I hope a club like Arsenal can get. When you look at Pogba, what he did, and you look at Bruno Fernandes, that’s the real position of Donny Van de Beek.”
“So people thought they were going to see Van de Beek with Pogba and Fernandes, but I’m not sure that will happen.” said Wright to the Kelly & Wrighty Show.
In terms of quality, Wright does not doubt Van de Beek, it’s just that he feels that the player is not the player Manchester United need at the moment.
“Look, Donny Van de Beek will be a good player for Manchester United at the moment because he is a quality player. But is he what they need right now?” he said.
Interestingly, former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany considers De Beek to be a panicked purchase of Manchester United.
“Van de Beek, for me, is a panic buy. He has good abilities, I’ve seen footage of his video game, and he is a good player, but …,” he said.
In his first match in the Premier League against Crystal Palace, Donny Van de Beek did look good, but unfortunately at that time MU was beaten with a score of 1-3.
