Senior MotoGP rider, Valentino Rossi praised Joan Mir, who won the 2020 season. The Monster Energy Yamaha Team racer thought it was not easy to become a champion this season, so he called Joan Mir a special rider.
As is known, the Suzuki Ecstar racer locked the 2020 MotoGP title in the Valencia GP series, last weekend. Indeed, he only finished in 7th position, but the bad results achieved by his closest rivals prevented Mir from catching up at the top of the standings.
It must be admitted that Joan Mir is the most consistent rider this season. He only won one victory, but a total of 7 podiums collected by 23-year-old riders, the highest number compared to other riders.
Even more special, Joan Mir has secured the world championship trophy after only two seasons in this highest class of MotoGP racing. In the last 20 years, only Rossi and Stoner have been able to register something similar before.
Given that the 2020 MotoGP campaign is difficult due to the ongoing pandemic, Rossi doesn’t hesitate to call Joan Mir a special rider.
“I think Joan deserves a world title this year. Being a MotoGP world champion in her second year is very special, only certain people can do it. So, this is not easy to achieve,” said Rossi via MotoGP.com.
Apart from the matter of performance, The Doctor sees a maturity in Joan Mir’s attitude, whether when dealing with other riders or when making plans on the track.
No doubt, this Monster Energy Yamaha Team rider also praised Suzuki and also the head coach, Davide Brivio, who recently worked hard to bring the team to the world title after 20 years had passed.
“Joan is very mature considering her young age. She has never made mistakes at crucial moments. I am also happy for Suzuki and Davide Brivio, who work very hard. So, congratulations to Joan,” said Rossi.
